Board Governance

The Board of Directors plays a critical role in the strategic direction and success of many organizations. In addition to setting its vision and strategy, they are accountable for the organization’s activities, including finance, operations and management. And yet, while we take for granted that our staff members benefit from regular professional development, we often don’t provide these opportunities for our board members.

We offer customized workshops to organizations interested in building their board’s capacity. For example, many boards are transitioning from administrative to policy governance formats, and want to learn how to govern more effectively in that role. Others seek professional development in areas such as reading financial statements, marketing, strategic planning, and meeting management.

We can also offer training and mentoring services to organizations experiencing board governance challenges, or who would like a refresher course on board management. Our seminars range in length and scope depending on the needs of each group, and vary from half-day workshops to more comprehensive 36-hour programs.
